Après une vilaine chute sur le trottoir, me voici de retour. Je peux enfin me remettre dans une position assez confortable pour écrire. Voici donc tel que promis, les couleurs qui participeront

Voici les écheveaux que j'utiliserai. Martha's Vineyard Fiber Farm dans les couleurs de gauche à droite: indian hill, avocado, eggplant, pitch pine et island october. Comme on dit en anglais ''Yummy colors!''

Maintenant, j'ai besoin de votre avis: Des fleurs, des rayures ou du fair isle? Laissez-moi votre avis ou votre suggestion sur les commentaires. Ca fait des lunes que je reluque ces couleurs sans savoir au juste quoi faire!!

En attendant, chez mes fermières, je me suis lancée au tissage d'un tapis. Je dois dire que j'en suis bien fière! Le tout premier ouvrage que je fais au métier. J'aime bien ça et je pense que ca ne sera pas le seul que je ferai. J'avais peur au début mais ca monte vite et c'est assez facile. Il faut dire que tous les fils étaient prêts et je n'avais qu'à tisser mais c'est un début.

Not bad! Pas mal!

A part avoir joué à la poupée vaudou, ça c'est bien passé. Coudre à travers 8 épaisseurs de coton peut-être difficile pour les doigts. Quand je regarde de près, il y a des petites erreurs mais vraiment je suis assez fière de moi. Il me vient plein d'idées, des nappes, des sacs et pourquoi pas un couvre-lit? Euh non, pas vraiment ... un peu gros le couvre-lit. Madame Bernina doit servir à quelque chose après tout! Mes doigts ne pourraient pas le supporter.

Besides having played the role of a vaudou doll, it went very well. Going through 8 layers of cotton with a needle is quite rough on fingers! There are little errors but I don't care. I'm proud of myself. A lot of ideas took place in my mind... a tablecloth, a bag, or maybe a bedspread? Nah. No bedspread. To big. My fingers would take it.

Je pense qu'il s'agit d'un vieux livre Pingouin. Bon, je vais passer une soirée à éplucher mes livres de tricot. Bah!! Y'a pire dans la vie. Dommage que vous ne puissiez pas toucher à cette laine. Un vrai délice. C'est doux en péché.

Well, as far as I remember, this is a cowl that I knitted without any pattern and the stitch comes from a old french Pingouin knitting magazine. I thing that a few hours will be spent looking through my knitting books tonight. I suppose it could be worse.

My ballerina shrug is coming along very well, almost finished. Maybe tonight and tomorrow I'll be able to post a picture.

Ce soir j'ai un atelier aux Fermières pour apprendre cette technique de courtepointe pliée. J'ai peine à croire que j'y parviendrai! Il suffit de 16 ronds imprimés et de 14 ronds unis pliés et assemblés avec un tout petit point de couture à la pointe et au milieu. Enfin on verra bien! Je vous promet de vous montrer mon oeuvre d'art une fois terminé.... Enfin, si c'est montrable bien sur! Avez-vous dans votre communauté un groupe des fermières? Si oui, eh bien, n'hésitez-pas à y aller car vous y apprendrez plein de choses!! Moi qui croyait en savoir beaucoup, j'ai été bien surprise et heureuse de voir que j'en avais encore beaucoup à apprendre. Mesdames du Québec, allez-y et donnez-moi des nouvelles....

Tonight I have a workshop to learn how to make this potholder. All we need is 16 small rounds of printed cotton cut 5'' and 14 of printed, fold them and then sew them together with just one tiny stich at the point another one in the middle and voila! Anyway, I promise to show you my finished work of art if it's bearable to show of course... We'll see anyway!

By the way, I don't know if your hometown have a group like mine... We meet once a month at the community center for a reunion and all the ladies that feel like it show the others what they made. It's called ''Les Fermieres'' which is the term in french for ''female farmers''. It's a very old organisation and used to be for farmer's wife to get together and exchange tips. Now, its more oriented towards crafts (old and new), recipes and workshops (FREE!!!) We can meet to ask questions about knitting, sewing, embroidery anything we want! There is always someone to show the others! I love these ladies....

If I succeed, I will gladly put a tutorial .

Ouf, j'ai peu de temps à moi pour quoi que ce soit. Quelques mailles par ci... un spectacle de la chorale par là et un autre, une autre pratique, un autre spectacle et un rang parmi tout ♪ ça!

Fifille est occupée et par le fait même maman aussi! Plus bas, deux liens you tube du spectacle du festival Juste pour rire à Montréal les 21 et 22 juillet dernier. Une scène de 5 étages recouvert d'un écran transparent sur lequel dansait des images, des couleurs, des flammes devant et des feux d'artifices derrière la scène pendant qu'une chorale belge et nos choristes québecois (300 en tout) chantaient. Nos filles étaient tout juste au dessus des belges au quatrième étage. Quel spectacle magnifique c'était.

La deuxième photo réflète la couleur exacte. C'est mon premier essai de dentelle et je suis assez fière de moi!

Il ne me reste que les côtes qui seront faites en bleu uni d'une laine de la Filatura di Crosa (cause de manque de laine) et je le montre terminé la semaine prochaine.

J'ai commencé le February Lady Sweater avec la Cascade 220 heather. Je n'ai tout de même pas encore compris les aug. du raglan. J'ai fait un essai avec ce que je croyais être le point en question et je dois dire que l'effet est ressemblant et me plait alors je continue.... D'autres photos à venir....

Je vous laisse avec mes hydangées devant la maison. Enfin, j'ai réussi à les avoir bleues!! Les clous rouillés dans la terre fonctionnent. L'année dernière elles étaient roses.

Aznavour part 2

OUFFFF... Tout c'est bien passé. Toutes nos filles ont été remises aux parents respectifs, le chef et la pianiste heureux et moi, épuisée mais contente a pris la journée d'hier pour me remettre les esprits en place.

Je vous ai promis un vidéo mais avec ma petite caméra numérique tout ce que j'ai pu obtenir est ceci...! Le hic c'est que j'étais postée à côté de la régie et du couloir pour les gens qui passent. On voit des têtes, on entend mal et si vous portez attention, à 1:50 du début du vidéo vous verrez Grégory qui passe tout juste devant moi. Grégory qui a été tellement généreux à nous présenter et venir discuter avec nous pour nous encourager avant et nous féliciter après. Merci Grégory!!!Une petite cantate (Barbara)

Anne-Marie était là aussi. Elle a donc passé la soirée sur scène. On a eu l'occasion de la voir également durant Aznavour sur écran mais les images allaient trop vite. Pas eu le temps de prendre une photo.

Fifille a rejoint les amis(es) de l'ensemble vocal de son école (qui participaient également à la partie Aznavour) Voici des choristes bien fiers!

Inutile de vous dire que mon "rongtutu" (mon tricot) a passé au deuxième plan en fin de semaine.

ouf.... Quelle fin de semaine! Samedi matin, Grégory Charles enchanté de la prestation de la chorale d'Anne-Marie Les Voix d'Elles, a demandé à notre chef si nous pouvions faire la première partie de Charles Aznavour au Mondial Choral de ce soir. Je me suis mise sur le tél. et contacté toutes celles que je pouvais et VOILA!!!!
C'est ce soir.
Anne-Marie qui participait avec Aznavour comme choriste avec son école, fait maintenant la première partie avec son autre chorale!

C'EST UN RÊVE.... AZNAVOUR,,,,, J'ADORE!!! Les deux parties en plus Les voix d'elles seules sur scène devant des milliers de personne et Anne-Marie comme choriste avec Aznavour ensuite... WOW fifille est gatée!

Un clip prix derrière la scene avec ma caméra numérique pour demain c'est sur! Promis...

Je n'ai jamais pensé être patiente. En fait, je viens de réaliser que j'ai beaucoup de patience avec les objets que je réalise mais beaucoup moins avec les humains. Ce ''rongtutu de haut de />$($*(!((//$/%$%$") (bon... on se calme un peu) on compte jusqu'à 10.....9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1

Silence,,,, ça va mieux!

Donc, je disais que ce haut a été défait 5 fois! Je suis une cruche nulle au crochet. Pas foutue de me rendre compte qu'après 4 cm de crocheté, j'avais fait deux fois un rang identique ce qui a subtilement changé l'endroit sur l'envers de l'ouvrage sauf que j'avais terminé le dos, fils rentrés etc... Toute heureuse car le crochet n'est pas mon meilleur ami, je brandis le dos pour montrer fièrement à fifille qui me lance,

"C'est bizarre maman cette bande du bas, je n'aime pas beaucoup.... "

"hein? quelle bande?..... silence et désespoir"

On défait pour la quatrième fois! NON je ne vous dirai pas pourquoi les trois premières fois.

J'ai ma fierté tout de même. Enfin, le dos est terminé, les devant avancés jusqu'aux dim. des emmanchures. On poste la photo lundi (j'espère)

Un bon blocage aidant (je regarde au ciel) à redresser le tout.

Farm land where you want it to be...

I've always wanted to have a small farm. I would love to have chickens, more than my 2 dogs, sheep and alpacas but I never dreamed that I would come home from work to this:

We didn't get to know them well thanks to Lulu and Max. But it was very nice.
My son said that Mrs Duck needs some make up LOL

Il devait chercher la rivière des milles-iles et comme notre piscine a la même couleur, ils se sont trompés!

I love Montréal - J'aime ma ville....

Je ne pense pas que j'habiterais ailleurs. Même si maintenant je demeure à Laval, je suis montréalaise dans mon coeur. J'aime avoir une montagne en plein coeur de la ville et la quitter pour me retrouver sur Ste-Catherine et voir ces maisons si typiques de Montréal....

Il faudra que je prenne des photos sur la rue St-Hubert très bientôt. Je suis allée chez Effiloché vendredi soir et si ça n'avait pas été si froid, je pense que je m'y serais balladée pour un petit temps car les lumières avaient quelque chose de magique. Je devrai aller en prendre également dans le vieux Montréal. C'est bien de montrer un peu de notre quartier, notre ville à nos lecteurs qui ne sont pas d'ici.

J'aime également où je demeure à Laval car en quelques minutes de marche, au bout de ma rue, j'ai un grand parc où je peux faire courir mes chiens et si je marche au bout de ce parc, j'arrive à la rivière, si je marche dans l'autre direction, j'arrive au centre d'achats où j'ai de tout! Même la bibliothèque publique! Non, je n'irais nulle part ailleurs. Je m'ennuierais de mes saisons même du mois de novembre ! eh oui....

I love the city I live in. I always think that I have the best of both worlds. If I walk down our street, we have a large park where my dogs can run freely and we arrive to a large river if I walk the other way I get to a shopping centre where I can find everything... Even the public library! In the winter, we can see skiers and snowmobiles. What more can I ask for?

I would miss our seasons, even the month of November....

What am I working on these days? Well, the fairy theater for Anne-Marie... pics coming soon I promise and this:

I had varigated mohair that I really liked so I made a headband but was left with a small amount so I decided to get some mohair to match. I really like what it looks like. It's so subtle that you hardly see the stripes. But better yet, I had a GOOD reason to make a trip to my favorite yarn store..... Ah! life's hard sometimes!

Fairies in a shadow box!!!

I'm making something special for my daughter! You'll see in a few days... In the meantime, I'm taking some time off to take care of Mamie who's not feeling very well and needs to be up and going by next week so she can have a visit from my sis in law from Nova Scotia...

Hedgehog

I love hedgehogs!! Because I can't have one because of our two dogs, I made one....

To make yours you'll need:

1 small piece of felt or fleece

small amount of yarn in two tones (I used a multicolored cotton)

2 beads for eyes

1 big bead or button for nose

matching embroidery floss for felt

fiberfill

Hot glue gun

Cut pattern (2 times) (save and print, it will be original size)

Sew around with floss.

I left a small opening for nose and inserted a black shank button and glued but you can sew a big bead if you prefer.

Fill tightly with fiberfill

Make a pompom

measuring 5 1/2" (14cm) around

Flatten a side of the pompom and fix the face to the pompom with hot glue. Sew the eyes.

Voilà!!

2. Do some research on how to download, scan, work with blogger. My self esteem is being very much affected when I look at other blogs being so well presented, clear pictures, clear tutorials and all. I guess I have a lot to learn!

is an old book my mom used to have at home. I loved looking at the pictures. They're so well done with scenery and all. I have an idea for january after the holidays. I could post a tutorial for an animal every day. I needs to be translated as this is a swiss book and written in french and german. It could be Farm animal of the day! We could all have a small farm at home with fake grass and all. I love miniatures and I think it would be great. What do you think? I would personnaly change a few things like colors, eyes...

I'd like to share this little christmas tree. It is crocheted in the amigurumi way.
I've done my best translating from french to english, so if you're a good crocheter and you find errors please tell me and I'll correct it.
You'll need about 50gr of worsted wool and a size 3mm crochet or whatever size you feel comfortable with but it has to be tight. This is worked all around so mark your first st. (I used a safety pin) and move it up with your rows.

1st step, the base or the floor if you prefer.

chain 2 st.
1- 5 single crochet (sc) in second stitch
2- (1 sc, inc. 2 sc in next st.) repeat all around
3- same as above
4- inc. 2 in all st.
5- (1 sc, inc. 2 sc in next st.) repeat all around
6- same as above
7- (2 sc inc. 2 in next st.)repeat all around

You should have a circle of 56 st.

Now the tree. From this point on, you can work in fur st. but if you're not comfortable with it you can work in sc and when the tree is finished you can embroider the needles with yarn and a wool needle. That's what I did. You just work from the base to the top and work loops around every sc. If you want to give a try with the fur st. and don't know how to do it, here's a link to a nice tutorial.

1- work all around in sc. and anywhere around the row, make 4 st. in chain st. and re-attach 4 st. away. this will form a slit at the base for stuffing or putting a weight if you wish. The circle in this picture is made with much bigger yarn to make it more visible.

2- Work in rounds, decreasing 4 stitches (1 at a time) across the row as evenly as possible every 2 rows - 9 times (18 rows total and 36 decreases)

3- Decrease 2 stitches every 2 rows - twice

4- Decrease every row 2 st. until you have only 2 left. With a wool needle pass yarn through loops and pull the yarn inside the tree.

Stuff tightly and place a weight at the base if you want.

Decorate with beads or whatever you please.

I'd love to see yours but I have no idea how to post your pictures on my blog. I've seen links to flickr groups so people can show their done projects. If you have the time or the patience to tell me how to do this with blogger, you'd be an angel. A big problem or let's say two big problems in my life are: not finishing when I should and not doing when I should... Should I crochet or should I work?
Too tired, let's crochet while watching Project Runway....

Shouldn't have (sigh). Should have done what has not been done and will have to be done anyway, anytime isn't it?

Max, what do you think? I don't care just come to bed....

I am being honest here! I tend to let go of things I don't like to do and not finishing my projects if I need to go downstairs to look for that missing button, piece of ribbon or whatever is not on hand... OH NO! that's means lazyness .... A third one! Better stop right here before I find a fourth one. OK, let's make a deal with myself. I will finish the following before I start something else and will post the picture of the finished project just to prove my good will. Is that a deal Max? Just shut up mom and come to bed. My friend came over with her camera and being a photographer she told me the problem is my camera. I took pictures with hers and there was a huge difference. My birthday is coming up so let's hope! Looks likethe picture above was taken in black and white.

In this one, the color is better but the image is blurry. Same settings...
I guess I'll start shopping or better yet, put a camera on my wish list.

New book, new ideas?

We have the most fantastic public library system! I saw a book advertise the other day on a french website and thought... I WANT THAT BOOK! Open our library website, check it out, nope! Send an e-mail from my library customer account, ask for the book, and two weeks later, get a phone call from the lady of the library front desk that never learned to smile....VOILÀ!!!!

There's 22 patterns in this book all beautifully illustrated with pictured tutorials and patterns all in color and easy to follow. I don't know if it's available in english but you can check it out with ISBN #10: 2-215-07802-2 and ISBN #13: 978-2-215-07802-2
Published by Fleurus Paris 2006. The authors are Marie Enderlen-Debuisson and Caroline Laisné.

The felt one on the cover is very nice. They use all kind of materials from ordinary cotton to plastic tubing used for aquarium filters!

In the meantime, I'll be at the cottage this week-end working on the two cute patterns I received from Panet June and hope to be finished so I can post some pictures next week. I will receive some nice wool from Martha's vineyard fiber farm soon so I'll be looking at patterns too.

BTW Have you visited MVFF web site and blog? These sheep can melt your heart with one glance. Check it out, Susan is a very nice person and she has a beautiful adventure to share with all of us knitters and crafters. So I'll post all comments and read e-mails on sunday night when I'm back from paradise!

See what happens when you dress up your dog in a Halloween costume? Now she thinks she's a kid! With a little coaxing and she did it!!!! Maybe small but full of gutts!

Now what do I do with this sweater? Everybody that saw it think that the wrong side is the right side. What do you think? Personally, I prefer the right side. I love that ribbing, its large and very stretchy. I'll scan the picture of the pattern tonight and post it tomorrow.

Oh boy... Brigitte tu dois m'aider à prendre de jolies photos... This yarn is acrylic and I hate acrylic yarn. My mom had a yarn store a few years ago and sold it. We ended up with boxes of yarn and I decided to knit it all before buying new yarns. So next time I walked in front of my favourite LYS, I'll have to close my eyes and think about something else! (sigh)

walking down the street with a dog dressed in a tutu. I never imagined that a dog wearing a costume would make kids so happy! I had a bag of chips in my pocket and and Lulu made little dances for the kids! Prima ballerina with the Canadian Ballet euhhh make that Canine Ballet. It was so much fun that next year we'll go with both dogs. That's if I can have Max wear a costume but we'll have a year to practice. Look at these dirty paws....

I needled felted the eyes and nose on this one. Mr. rabbit will be done tomorrow when I decide which colors to use.

Then I'll be able to start Max, thanks to June of Planet june for her Jack Russell pattern.

Nice to get all these projects finally finished. Then I'll finished the white sweater, then my granny square blanket, then my red and blue blanket.... ouf I'm getting tired now. Ok, where's my crochet now?

Little Riding Hood went to school

Anne-Marie or should I say, tall riding hood ? she's taller than I am.... went to school all dressed up this morning. I just love these wood earrings I got in Québec City about 10 years ago.

Thought it would go well with the theme. I'm just wondering if riding hood is the right name. In french it is Le petit chaperon rouge but I don't think it's in my french/english dictionnary... But anyways...

Those pictures are blurry! I don't know what's wrong with my camera ... maybe the problem is the photographer. I'll have to ask my friend Brigitte for a course in digital photography 101.

I need a face!

I made this little rabbit out of a pattern I bought from a crafter/blogger which I forgot the name. Iit came out quite fine in a grey mohair I had in my stash. I lost the pattern and I can't figure out what kind of face she needs. Any suggestions? A name would be nice too. Maybe a sweater?

I also finished this cardigan. I got this wool in a LYS on sale. It's pure wool from Peru and quite soft. At first I was not crazy about the color but it grew on me. Anne-Marie was the one who chose it between three other colors that were on sale. The more I knitted the more I liked it. I brought it with me at the cottage and when my mom in law saw it she raved about how nice the wool was and how the color looked like autumn leaves (maybe a pumpkin???)and on and on. Last time I saw her she asked if it was finished. Just a few strands to fix and buttons to be sewed on I said.....

I love my mom in law and I think I just found a christmas gift for her. I think she'll be surprised . I REALLY love my mom in Law.

Toasty blanket anyone?

I woke up this morning to this....YIKES!

Open the TV and the weather girl tells us that where our cottage is there were 19 cm of snow! We were there two weeks ago and the trees were starting to change colors but still green and we were comfy with our sweatshirts. How can it change so fast? I guess mother Nature is trying to tell us to take care of her.

So I decided to treat us to a toasty blanket for breakfast

Thanks to Silja Devina for sharing her lovely flower granny square on Ravelry.com. Those granny squares can be addictive. I started with a blanket for a crib but I guess it will end up big enough for a simple bed. I though about lining it with a nice cotton fabric. Is anybody have any advice for lining a blanket? I have absolutely no idea how to do this.

BTW don't mind the date of the picture. My nephew played with my camera and I guess he changed the date on it.

My mom in law gave the dogs a little halloween treat. New costumes! By the way they look on these pictures I guess we'll forget about it. Lulu was kind of terrified and wouldn't move and Max was ready to jump off the counter and eat that darn hat. Anne-Marie will be dressed as little riding hood for her school party on friday. I'm almost finished sewing it and will post a picture on friday.

I guess if it doesn't get warmer by friday, Anne-Marie will be dressed as a hockey player or better yet, a snowmobile driver!

My name is Maggie, no really it is Marguerite but easier to say Maggie in english.

I live in Montréal, Québec and will be sharing with you my thoughts, my life, my crafts, my pictures.
